Dutch in Kutch, India Project . 2005

Working with weavers in Kutch, a village in India for 4 weeks, Arlene and Shamji Vishram Vankad, a master handloom weaver, created a series of shawls for the western and Indian markets which give clues to how they can be worn.

Inspired by the many ways women in India wear a piece of cloth, Arlene designed that form of the shawls as part of the project to design handicraft products.
This project was exhibited in India and The Netherlands.
Production of the shawls is continuing, and distribution is being arranged in Europe and India.
